DHNB 2022 – Digital Humanities in Action

The 6th Digital Humanities in the Nordic and Baltic Countries Conference (DHNB 2022) was be held at Uppsala University, in Sweden, on 15–18 March 2022.

DHNB conferences focus on research, education and communication in the interdisciplinary field of digital humanities in the Nordic and Baltic regions and beyond. DHNB 2022 highlights the two-way relationship between digital humanities theory and praxis and society. Digital humanities’ research brings together technical implementation with critical discourse to correspond to broader cultural and institutional settings.

DHNB 2022 is organised jointly by the Centre for Digital Humanities Uppsala (CDHU), the Department of ALM at Uppsala University, and the Uppsala University Library. DHNB 2022 is an on-site conference in Uppsala, with the possibility to participate digitally.

DHNB 2022 Proceedings published

We think it is a great collection of research, that both represents the fruitful conference we had in March as well as the richness of the status of Digital Humanities in the Nordic and Baltic countries. Thank you to all – for contributing to, participating in, and reviewing for the conference and the subsequent proceedings.

This marks the end of DHNB 2022. We are looking forward to the online DHNB 2023, organized in collaboration between the University of Oslo, the University of Bergen and the University of Stavanger. The CFP is currently open, until 15 October.

Restrictions removed

The Swedish government has announced that all restrictions regarding the Covid-19 pandemic will be removed on 9 February 2022 since “Covid-19 should no longer be classified as a public and socially dangerous disease”. This means that there are no specific rules or regulations at place affecting conferencing in Sweden. Regarding travel, there are no longer an entry ban from an EU/EEA country, but from the rest of the world the entry ban is in effect till 31 March 2022.

Conference fees

The fees for the DHNB 2022 conference are the following:

All prices include VAT and are in SEK (1 € ≈ 10.2 SEK). Early bird registration applies up until 25 February 2022. The fees include lunches, coffee breaks, the Wednesday reception, and all social events (but not the Thursday conference dinner). The fees are the same for physical and digital participation.

Become a DHNB member

If you want to become a DHNB member and get the reduced conference fee, please follow the instructions provided here. The membership fees are 25€ for student members and 40€ for ordinary membership.

Participating physically or digitally

We hope to welcome as many of you as possible to Uppsala in March 2022. For us to be able to make a conference program all presenting authors need to register by 15 February 2022 at the latest (i.e. “early bird”), including deciding on physical or digital presentation format. Online participants will be involved through our online conference platform, and they will receive information about this in due course. If you have registered to participate physically but become sick or are unable to travel because of new regulations or other circumstances, we will of course reimburse the additional cost for the conference dinner.
